God gave us the words and Debbie Friedman gave us our songs. She made it OK to sing out loud by giving us ruach and a melody. She made it fun to be a Reform Jew. She was our Joan Baez, leading us out of our dull thoughts and our melancholy uninspired prayers in synagogue to our spirited sing-a-longs at camp. We sang them on the bus and back home to our parents where we sang while making latkes and charoset and hamentaschen. We will miss you Debbie Friedman, but you will forever be with us. See you at the camp fire. Rest in Peace.
