Cheese makes the world go round! I love cheese and if Shavout were monthly I just might consider conversion but not sure I could handle all the guilt! My favorite? Great, extra ripe Brie with a nice Montrachet on the side! A glass, hell, a nice bottle of Pouilly Montrachet (Jadot or Latour will do) and who needs religion to enter Heaven? Add a few sweet strawberries dipped in Austrian dark chocolate and next stop Nirvana!!!

For whatever it is worth, the slang for heroin-smack has been suggested to be a corruption of schmeck meaning taste. “Give me a taste”.

1. locust plagues happen in that area of the levant every few years. it happens usually around this time of the year also (pesach).
2. Yemeni Jews traditionally ate them and I’ve read also that some N. African Jewish communities did as well.
